In The Times Ahead Cling To God’s Promises

Friend, a time of trouble is just before us. We have had times in the past that have been very difficult in this country and in the world. But, there is a time coming when it will be so grave that men’s hearts will fail them from fear. “Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth…” Luke 21:26

There have been times in our lives when we were afraid because we knew something unpleasant was going to happen in the future for us, and we couldn’t sleep at night because we were so worried about it. All kinds of negative thoughts ran through our minds. We knew everything was going pretty well for us, right now; but, wondered if our lives would change after the time came for us to go through that awful experience just before us.

Finally, the day comes when we have to face the disagreeable event or situation, and we go through it better than we thought we would. We even say to ourselves, “Well, that wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be.” We even manage to put a smile on our face and say to ourselves, “I am glad that is over with.”

Everyone can see that this world is in a confused, chaotic mess. We can’t believe that everything is moving so fast. It seems that no one has the wisdom or desire to turn this world around and bring it back to the way it was 20 or 30 years ago. We are sick of waking up and seeing all the nutty people doing such bizarre, wicked things to others. And, all these wars are making us so distraught.

There seems to be no way out of the twisted dilemma that we have put ourselves in. We have no one to blame but ourselves for the jam this world is in. The Bible describes us as stiff-necked, rebellious people. We have for centuries chosen to go our own way, and now we are at the point that every nation is angry and the minds of many choose the way of doing evil instead of doing good. Is WWIII right before us?

Hang on to your seat, friend, because it is going to get worse. This roller-coaster ride that we are on has many more twists and turns with a large numbers of dangerous downward spirals for us before it comes to a screeching halt.

We have no idea what the days ahead will be like for us.  We are well aware that this world is going down, quickly.  And, we can tell that it is being kept under control only because Jesus is keeping it under control.

His love for all of us is beyond our understanding.  He is holding back the winds of strife a little longer because He is hoping more people will come to Him.  All that He wants to do is give the gift of eternal life to as many as possible.  Yet, how many want nothing to do with Him and have no desire to be with Him for evermore.

Soon, He will tell the angels to let loose the winds of strife, and we shall see a time of trouble such as never was.  We cannot imagine how bad things will be in this world after the angels let the four corners loose.

All that you and I can do is pray for this world and those around us.  Each day we can ask the Lord to help to do our part in spreading the Gospel.  We have such a love for those around us and would like to have them ready for the soon coming of Jesus.

“And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.  And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.”  Revelation 7:1-3

“And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.” Daniel 12:1

Over the years I have put to memory Bible promises. I would like to share a number of them with you. We are in the final days of this earth’s history, and these promises I like to recite to myself, often. They give me hope, and what is so incredible about these promises is that they help me to comprehend that no matter what happens in the days ahead, Jesus is always close by and will protect me. He will always provide for me and my loved ones, and He will do the same for you, dear reader.

We have nothing to Fear:

“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” Isaiah 41:10

“When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.” Isaiah 43:2

“Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.” Revelation 3:10

“The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.” Psalms 121:5-8

The Lord will protect us from our enemies:

“The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.” Deuteronomy 28:7

“And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence. I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.” II Samuel 22:2-4

“I will send my fear before thee, and will destroy all the people to whom thou shalt come, and I will make all thine enemies turn their backs unto thee.” Exodus 23:27

“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn.” Isaiah 54:17

In the days ahead there may be a shortage of food. God will supply His followers with food:

“They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.” Psalms 37:19

“The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.” Psalms 34:10

“Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.” Psalms 37:3

Sara Lee

“The people of God will not be free from suffering; but while persecuted, and distressed, while they endure privation and suffer for want of food they will not be left to perish.  That God who cared for Elijah will not pass by one of His self-sacrificing children. He who numbers the hairs of their head will care for them, and in time of famine they shall be satisfied.  While the wicked are dying from hunger and pestilence, angels will shield the righteous and supply their wants. To him that “walketh righteously” is the promise: “Bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure.”  “When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the Lord will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them. ” Isaiah 33:15, 16; 41:17″
