Deuteronomy 28

Why can’t we see it when we read Deuteronomy 28? I think the devil is working to keep us from coming to terms with the message for us in the chapter? He is so crafty! Deuteronomy 28 says so much to us. In the chapter we can comprehend why this world is in the mess that it is in; we can see from reading the chapter why the government officials of every country are not doing what is best, and they seem to care less about those that dwell in their countries; we can tell from the chapter why the churches around the world are changing and not following the Bible; we can tell why many of the young people of the world are going every which way but the right way; we can tell from reading Deuteronomy 28 why the majority of the people in this world are going to be lost; we can tell who the Anti-Christ is and what his mark is (that we all want to avoid) in the chapter.

Our homes would be a little bit of heaven on earth if we really stopped and thought about Deuteronomy 28; the stress level in this world would go down to nothing if we understood the chapter and obeyed the Lord; we would not have to worry about someone coming along and chopping our heads off; or be concerned about our country being taken over by a group of people that hate our country and us and want to destroy it and us because we do not want to be like them.

Friend, if we really took the time to study Deuteronomy 28, we would come to the conclusion, as I have, that this world would be an incredible place, if we understood Deuteronomy 28 and made the changes in our lives and in our thinking, right now. The Lord would probably come right now and burn this impure world up and create a glorious one for us to enjoy, if we all did what that chapter tells us to do. Read the chapter for yourself, and see if you agree.

“And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God. Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field. Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep. Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store. Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out. The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways. The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. The LORD shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, and walk in his ways. And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD; and they shall be afraid of thee. And the LORD shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers to give thee. The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow. And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them: And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them. But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee: Cursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou be in the field. Cursed shall be thy basket and thy store. Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy land, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep. Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and cursed shalt thou be when thou goest out. The LORD shall send upon thee cursing, vexation, and rebuke, in all that thou settest thine hand unto for to do, until thou be destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the wickedness of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me. The LORD shall make the pestilence cleave unto thee, until he have consumed thee from off the land, whither thou goest to possess it. The LORD shall smite thee with a consumption, and with a fever, and with an inflammation, and with an extreme burning, and with the sword, and with blasting, and with mildew; and they shall pursue thee until thou perish. And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron. The LORD shall make the rain of thy land powder and dust: from heaven shall it come down upon thee, until thou be destroyed. The LORD shall cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies: thou shalt go out one way against them, and flee seven ways before them: and shalt be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth. And thy carcase shall be meat unto all fowls of the air, and unto the beasts of the earth, and no man shall fray them away. The LORD will smite thee with the botch of Egypt, and with the emerods, and with the scab, and with the itch, whereof thou canst not be healed. The LORD shall smite thee with madness, and blindness, and astonishment of heart: And thou shalt grope at noonday, as the blind gropeth in darkness, and thou shalt not prosper in thy ways: and thou shalt be only oppressed and spoiled evermore, and no man shall save thee. Thou shalt betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her: thou shalt build an house, and thou shalt not dwell therein: thou shalt plant a vineyard, and shalt not gather the grapes thereof. Thine ox shall be slain before thine eyes, and thou shalt not eat thereof: thine ass shall be violently taken away from before thy face, and shall not be restored to thee: thy sheep shall be given unto thine enemies, and thou shalt have none to rescue them. Thy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people, and thine eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all the day long; and there shall be no might in thine hand. The fruit of thy land, and all thy labours, shall a nation which thou knowest not eat up; and thou shalt be only oppressed and crushed alway: So that thou shalt be mad for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see. The LORD shall smite thee in the knees, and in the legs, with a sore botch that cannot be healed, from the sole of thy foot unto the top of thy head. The LORD shall bring thee, and thy king which thou shalt set over thee, unto a nation which neither thou nor thy fathers have known; and there shalt thou serve other gods, wood and stone. And thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among all nations whither the LORD shall lead thee. Thou shalt carry much seed out into the field, and shalt gather but little in; for the locust shall consume it. Thou shalt plant vineyards, and dress them, but shalt neither drink of the wine, nor gather the grapes; for the worms shall eat them. Thou shalt have olive trees throughout all thy coasts, but thou shalt not anoint thyself with the oil; for thine olive shall cast his fruit. Thou shalt beget sons and daughters, but thou shalt not enjoy them; for they shall go into captivity. All thy trees and fruit of thy land shall the locust consume. The stranger that is within thee shall get up above thee very high; and thou shalt come down very low. He shall lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him: he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the tail. Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou hearkenedst not unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee: And they shall be upon thee for a sign and for a wonder, and upon thy seed for ever. Because thou servedst not the LORD thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things; Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee. The LORD shall bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand; A nation of fierce countenance, which shall not regard the person of the old, nor shew favour to the young: And he shall eat the fruit of thy cattle, and the fruit of thy land, until thou be destroyed: which also shall not leave thee either corn, wine, or oil, or the increase of thy kine, or flocks of thy sheep, until he have destroyed thee. And he shall besiege thee in all thy gates, until thy high and fenced walls come down, wherein thou trustedst, throughout all thy land: and he shall besiege thee in all thy gates throughout all thy land, which the LORD thy God hath given thee. And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters, which the LORD thy God hath given thee, in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee: So that the man that is tender among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his brother, and toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the remnant of his children which he shall leave: So that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat: because he hath nothing left him in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee in all thy gates. The tender and delicate woman among you, which would not adventure to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom, and toward her son, and toward her daughter, And toward her young one that cometh out from between her feet, and toward her children which she shall bear: for she shall eat them for want of all things secretly in the siege and straitness, wherewith thine enemy shall distress thee in thy gates. If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, THE LORD THY GOD; Then the LORD will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance. Moreover he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of; and they shall cleave unto thee. Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the LORD bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed. And ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude; because thou wouldest not obey the voice of the LORD thy God. And it shall come to pass, that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to nought; and ye shall be plucked from off the land whither thou goest to possess it. And the LORD shall scatter thee among all people, from the one end of the earth even unto the other; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which neither thou nor thy fathers have known, even wood and stone. And among these nations shalt thou find no ease, neither shall the sole of thy foot have rest: but the LORD shall give thee there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and sorrow of mind: And thy life shall hang in doubt before thee; and thou shalt fear day and night, and shalt have none assurance of thy life: In the morning thou shalt say, Would God it were even! and at even thou shalt say, Would God it were morning! for the fear of thine heart wherewith thou shalt fear, and for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see. And the LORD shall bring thee into Egypt again with ships, by the way whereof I spake unto thee, Thou shalt see it no more again: and there ye shall be sold unto your enemies for bondmen and bondwomen, and no man shall buy you.”

The first 14 verses of Deuteronomy 28 our Lord tells us that He will bless us, our children and all that we possess abundantly if we keep His commandments. From verse 15 to the end of the chapter God pronounces a curse upon us if we do not. Some may say, “Well, that is just for the Jews.” Is it just for the Jews?

Our Lord is no respecter of persons. We all are His children by faith in Christ Jesus. “ For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” Galatians 3:26-29

Deuteronomy 28 starts out by saying “if” we keep the commandments of God, we will be greatly blessed and the direct opposite would be “if” we do not, we will be cursed. Could it be the reason this world is in the predicament it is in is because we are not keeping the commandments of God? Could it be that the USA is being destroyed by our enemies because we are not keeping the commandments of God? Could the reason be why the government officials of each country are not doing what is right is because they are not keeping the commandments of God; and, without God in control of their lives and the willingness to do what He says, they are making very unwise decisions and passing laws that are not for the best good of the people. Wisdom comes from God, does it not? “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments…” Psalms 111:10

I have such compassion and love for the young people of the world. My, my how they are suffering in these last days of this earth’s history. I think much of their pain and sorrow is due to adults that do not love the Lord and have no desire to keep His commandments. It seems to me that we are living in a time when adults love money more than our precious, young people. Our children are becoming so sick mentally and physically because of alcohol, street drugs, evil books, evil movies, evil video games, and the evil junk they are watching on TV. It is so sad. So, many adults are making big money off our young people with all the garbage they are bringing before their eyes.

Gone are the days when adults had sincere love for our children and would try to shelter them from the cruel, evil ways of Satan. I think it is because they do not love Jesus and have no desire to walk in His footsteps. If all adults loved our Lord, as they should, they would love the children around the world and want to help them to have healthy, strong minds and bodies. They would never put money with all it can buy ahead of the health and well-being of children. Think of how many children would be walking with the Lord, right now, if they had parents that were walking with Jesus, obeying Him and, daily, helping them to know our Lord.  Many children are not being taught to obey the Ten Commandments.  The Ten Commandments were given to us because of God’s great love for us.  If obeyed they will give us peace of mind, and our children would be protected from the evil that is happening in this world.

Why are the Christian Churches changing in these last days? It is astonishing how they are becoming so worldly. The Bible is there for us to read and follow; but, many of the churches are not following Jesus Christ, and their leaders are not standing up and proclaiming the truths of the Bible. Aren’t we supposed to become more and more like Jesus? It seems we are becoming more and more like the world. Doesn’t the Bible tell us that we are not to love the world? It is disturbing to see our Religious leaders deliberately disobeying God’s word. “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.” I John 2:15-17 We are to do the “will” of God which means obey Him.

I believe I can see when reading Deuteronomy 28, the greater part of the people on this earth is going to be destroyed. I think it is easy for us to see the chaotic situation this world is in. The masses have no desire to walk in the footsteps of the lovely Jesus which is the reason for the chaotic situation. The Lord right now is preparing mansions for us and the angels are preparing crowns for us. But, only those that are fully surrender to Jesus Christ, repenting of their sins, and obeying Him will receive those mansions and crowns. Does anyone really love the Lord and want to be with Him for all eternity? Everyone seems to be in love with themselves.

Doers-of-the-word

This following simple text says so much, and yet, people ignore it or try to cover it up in some way with a text that they think makes it so we do not have to do what our Lord says. “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” John 14:15  I, also, think the text found in Revelation 22:14, “ Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.”, tells us we are blessed if we do His commandments; and will have a right to the tree of life; and can walk through the gates into the city (New Jerusalem).  However, if we do not keep God’s commandments, we will not have access to the tree of life, and we will not walk through the gates into the city of God.  And, if that is the case, will we will not be with Jesus forevermore.

Beware of anyone that walks around acting like he is so holy and above everyone else. Good grief, we all are sinners!  No one is better than anyone else.  The Lord tells us there will be many Anti-Christ’s in the last days of this earth’s history.  And, we have had a few of them.  “Anti” means against, opposed or hostile towards whatever it may be.  We need to always compare the person that is walking around claiming to be a Christian leader with the Bible.  If an individual is not helping us to go along with the teachings of the Bible, he is not a Christian leader. He is working against Jesus and His word.  We must read the Bible for ourselves. Otherwise, we are going to be fooled by Satan just like Eve was led away from obeying God in the garden by the devil. “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” Isaiah 8:20 And who is the light of the world? “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” John 8:12  Now, think about this! If Jesus does not dwell in the Anti-Christ, do you think the Holy Spirit will? He may have a spirit in him, but it is not the Holy Spirit. It is the spirit of the devil.  For the Holy Spirit is given to those who obey the Lord. “And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.” Acts 5:32

The Anti-Christ will look like an amazing, compassionate, loving man. The masses will look up to him as a remarkable religious leader. Didn’t Satan come to Eve in a kind, loving manner? Didn’t he make Eve feel that he really cared about her and was very concerned about her well-being as well as her future?

Wow, that tells me that we need to compare a person whether it is a pastor or whomever with the Bible. Deuteronomy 28 says that if we are not obeying the commandments of God a curse is upon us. We may not experience that curse during our life time; but, unless we repent and surrender our lives to Jesus Christ and follow and obey Him, we will not be with Him for all eternity.

So, if a man tells us that we do not need to obey the commandments of God—look out! He is against the word of God and against Jesus. Perhaps, we may think we are fine if we are obeying eight or nine of them; but, is that true?  “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.  For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill.  Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.” James 2:10, 11

When I read Deuteronomy 28, I say to myself, “Okay, the first fourteen verses say I am blessed if I keep the commandments of God and from verse 15 on there is a curse upon me if I do not. So, if some man comes along now or in the future and wants me to disobey one of the commandments such as keeping Sunday holy instead of Saturday, he is trying to shove his opinion, false teaching or “mark” upon me.  I do not want that; I want to go along with God’s sign or mark.”

“Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you.” Exodus 31:13

“Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD that sanctify them.” Ezekiel 20:12

“And hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the LORD your God.” Ezekiel 20: 20

You may want to take a few minutes and refresh your memory by reading the Ten Commandments. God bless you and your loved ones today and always, friend.

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

Thou shalt not kill.

Thou shalt not commit adultery.

Thou shalt not steal.

Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.” Exodus 20:3-17
