Study God’s Word

Study God's Word“…it is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” Matthew 4:4

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.”  John 1:1-3

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”  John 1:14

Our sweet Jesus is the Word.  As you and I study His word, we behold Him.  He comes close to us as we study showing us step by step the way we should walk.  We can’t live this life in the way He wants us to without reaching out to Him for help through His word.  Throughout His word He reaches down and pulls us up and out of the muck and mire of this world.  From beginning to end His word gives us the ability to turn our backs on this world, totally.  There is strength in His word to make us more and more like Him.  There is power in His word to make us ready for His soon coming.

“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”  Joshua 1:8

“Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.”  Psalm 119:9

“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”  Hebrews 4:12

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.  Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.  Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”  Ephesians 6:11-17

“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”  James 1:22

My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.” Proverbs 2:1-5

“But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.”  II Peter 3:18

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”  Colossians 3:16

Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.”  II Peter 1:2, 3

“Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.” John 5:39

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”  II Timothy 3:16, 17

“…if ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8: 31, 32

“And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13

”Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” II Timothy 2:15

The Bible is God’s love letter that he left behind for us. This world is becoming more stressful with all that is taking place.   At times it is very difficult mentally to handle what is happening all around us. We need to close the door on this world for half an hour or more each day and spend time reading the Bible.   That time that we spend in the word of God will give us tremendous peace.

“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Hebrews 11:6

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” John 6:63

“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” Psalms 119:11

The more you read the word of God, the more you will fall in love with Him. Through reading His word, you will find that God is for you, never against you.   He wants the best for you.   Jesus will reveal through His word many ways that will make your life happier. As you read His word, memorize verses.    We are living in the last days of this earth’s history.  Those verses that you put to memory will help you through the times ahead.

“The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.” Psalms 119:130

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Psalms 119:105

“And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.” II Timothy 3:15

“Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shall both save thyself, and them that hear thee.” I Timothy 4:16
