This just makes sense to me. Does it make sense to you, friend? If we love the Lord, we will love everyone because the Lord created us all. And, if we love everyone, we will want them to be in His kingdom, right? We know that our Lord will not force anyone to be with Him forevermore. And, we know, of course, that everyone has freedom of choice. But, we still hope to see many, many in the kingdom of God. So, because we love everyone, we are going to want to tell them about our friend Jesus Christ.
“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:15
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”Matthew 28:19, 20
If we truly care about the Lord, ourselves and others, we will read the Bible. Reading the word of God not only reveals to us how much God loves us and the plan that He has for us but, it will give us knowledge in the ways of God to share with others.
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” II Timothy 2:15
“Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.” John 5:39
“Thy word is true from the beginning…” Psalms 119:160
“Thy word is very pure…” Psalms 119:140
“The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.” Psalms 119:130
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Psalms 119:105
“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:31, 32
Prayer is a part of our Christian, daily, walk. Prayer is like talking to a friend, and Jesus is our friend. The Holy Spirit enlightens our minds through God’s word and prayer.
“Pray without ceasing.” I Thessalonians 5:17
“Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving.” Colossians 4:2
“Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually.” I Chronicles 16:11
“The LORD is near to all them that call on him, to all that call on him in truth.” Psalms 145:18
If we love the Lord and appreciate all that He has done for us, we will take pleasure in obeying Him and walking in His footsteps.
“He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.” I John 2:6
“If ye love me, keep my commandments.” John 14:15
“If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.” John 15:10
“He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.” John 14:21
“For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.” I John 5:3
“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.” Ecclesiastes 12:13
You and I are looking forward to the day when we can be with Jesus in the World Made New. We want to walk right through those pearly gates into the New Jerusalem. Sitting on the bank of the River of Life with Jesus, our loved ones and friends will be incredible.
Does obedience have anything to do with being in the World Made New? Many religious leaders convey to their congregation that all we have to do is believe in Jesus Christ. They are told that obeying our Lord is works. Oh, how many are so happy when they hear that. The apostle Paul in this text says “God forbid” us to think that way. “Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.” Romans 3:31
Doesn’t faith and works go hand and hand? It just makes sense to me that if we really love our friend Jesus, we are going to want to do what He says which is obedience. Do we tell our lovely Jesus that we love Him and believe in Him but, to obey Him is something we do not want to do?
Is obedience just too much work for us? Isn’t it a delight to walk with Jesus day after day loving Him and obeying Him? Doesn’t it bring us peace, contentment and joy? He says and does everything for our best good.
His aim is to bring us home. His aim is to give us more than what this world has to offer. No one loves us like Jesus does. So, let’s have love for Him and respect for Him and do what He says.
“Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.” James 2:17
“But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?” James 2:20
“Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.” James 2:24
Here are a couple of texts that are in the Scriptures. We want to be with our lovely Jesus. Soon we will see His lovely face. Hooray!
“And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.” Matthew 19:17
“Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.” Revelation 22:14
“Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.” Revelation 14:12
