“Man Of Sin”

“Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.”  II Thessalonians 2:1-4

The “man of sin” is visiting the countries of the world acting like Mr. Nice Guy, and everyone is so delighted to see him.  The pilgrims got on boats and came to America to get away from the persecution of the Catholic Church.  The “Dark Ages” was a very strenuous time for those that wanted to follow Jesus, and they were so oppressed.  They longed for religious freedom, and they risked their lives to reach the shore of America.  They were thrilled that they could worship our Lord as they wished.  They now had the freedom to study the Bible and gather together for worship without being harassed.

The Apostle Paul told us the “man of sin” would come to the forefront just before the second coming of our Lord.  He sure is making himself well-known in the world, isn’t he?  The masses seem to be spellbound.  “And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”  Revelation 13:8

They regard the Pope as the religious leader of the world.  I thought Jesus was the religious leader of the world?  In my Bible, I find that we are to seek Him first.  “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”  Matthew 6:33  So, why are we so eager to seek and follow a mere man?  Why do we need a Pope, anyway?  Jesus is our mediator between God and man, not the Pope and not Mary.  “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”  I Timothy 2:5

Our sweet Jesus is the one we are to honor and worship.  He created us and sustains us.  He created this world and is well able to lead each of us, if we allow Him to, right through the pearly gates into the New Jerusalem.   Why are we so anxious to give all the glory and honor to a man?

Every day, we should invite Jesus into our lives, and ask Him to be the center of our lives.  We behold Him through prayer and reading the Bible.  Our sweet Jesus is the one we want to keep our eyes on every second of the day.  We want to behold Him-not the Pope.  We want our Lord to be our guide and leader in this life.  We want Him to be our religious leader. “That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.”  John 5:23

“And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.”  Luke 4:8

The Pope should stay home sitting in his recliner with his feet up having a nice cup of tea and reading the Bible.

Satan wants to keep the world focused on the Pope right up until the minute the Lord comes in the clouds of glory.  He knows that if he can do that, millions will be eternally lost.  It is all about Jesus–not the Pope.
