There is nothing on the face of this earth that can bring more joy and peace into our lives than knowing Jesus Christ. Friend, you and I are looking forward to the day when we can be with our Savior and our heavenly Father and the angelic host in the World Made New. We will be united with them forevermore.
“That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:” Ephesians 1:10
Now, during the time we are on this earth, we can be united with Jesus and our heavenly Father. Love is what draws us to them. Jesus was such an amazing example to us when He walked this earth. He revealed that true delight comes from all of us stepping out in faith and coming together under His blood stained banner. If we walk in His footsteps and do the will of our heavenly Father like Jesus did, we will all experience such joy. “He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.” I John 2:6
Not only does our Lord’s example give us the wish to unite under Him and our heavenly Father, but the Bible, also, gives us the want to unite under the two of them. Jesus is the word made flesh. So, with His word dwelling in us and the Holy Spirit dwelling in us, we are united under our Savior and His Father.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” John 1:1,2,14
“Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;” Philippians 1:27
We are united under Jesus Christ and our heavenly Father moving closer and closer to them in our daily walk and becoming more and more like them. We are a “united front” in proclaiming the gospel and the love of Jesus and our heavenly Father to those who are still in darkness. That is the Gospel commission. We want to take as many to heaven with us as we can. “ Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Matthew 28:19, 20
Being united under Jesus and our heavenly Father means that we want them to lead our lives; we want them to be in total control of us. That is why we come to them in prayer, daily, asking them to come and dwell in us through the Holy Spirit and to help us to surrender our lives totally to them and to give us the power to do those things that please them.
“But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me.” John 15:26
“But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.” Romans 8:11
Jesus is our Shepherd. He wants all to be united under Him and our heavenly Father in that “sheepfold”. We can enter into that “sheepfold” if we choose to. His gift of eternal life is a free gift.
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers. This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them. Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep. I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep. And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.” John 10:1-16
Let us not make the mistake of uniting under a sinful man and joining a group of people that do not follow the Bible nor walk in the footsteps of Jesus. That would be a terrible mistake and may cost us our eternal life. We just cannot make the slip-up of putting an earthly person ahead of Jesus.
We must take the time to study the word of God every day. Nowadays it is imperative that we do so. There are so many untruths being taught in the mainstream churches. Someone may say one thing to us, and another may say something else to us. How do we know what is truth if we do not know the word of God for ourselves? We will be blown around by every wind of doctrine if we are not anchored in the word of God.
Satan would love to sidetrack us. He would love it if we were to put some man ahead of Jesus. He would love it if we were to follow the traditions, rituals, false teachings and commandments of a pagan group.
Salvation only comes through Jesus Christ. He is the Son of God. He is the One that is coming back to get us and will take us home with Him. He is the One that is going to create a New World and do away with this corrupt world.
Our Lord will weep terribly if we choose to follow a man and settle for this one life when He can give us so much more.
Let us strive to be in the Lord’s “sheepfold’ with Jesus as our wonderful Shepherd.
“That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.” John 17:21-26
“That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 15:6
“Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:” Ephesians 4:13
