What Is Happening To Our Country?

Our country is declining rapidly, and we have no one to blame but ourselves. Often, past presidents are blamed for the predicament this country is in, and the present president that we now have in the White House is criticized and blamed for the downward spiral this country seems to be in.

Remember the saying, “When you point the finger at someone, you have three pointing back at yourself?”   Well, I think that is true when it comes to the citizens of America.  We are not dim-witted, we know right from wrong.  But, we have deliberately chosen the wrong path to walk on.  We seem to like walking down the path that leads away from God instead of walking on the path that leads to Him.

The world and its ways seem more appealing to us than the ways of God.  We just cannot seem to tell the difference between grabbing for the gusto that this world has to offer and grabbing for the crown and the mansion that God offers us.  We just cannot accept as true that God offers us a much better place to live in with a mansion for us to occupy and a shelf in that mansion for us to put our crown on.

We do not realize that heaven can begin right now for each of us if we would just choose Jesus rather than this world.  We do not have to wait until Jesus comes and takes us to heaven to enjoy the peace, joy and contentment that comes from knowing and worshiping Him.

The Lord is just a prayer away.  Yet, we will not humble ourselves before Him and ask Him to dwell within us. “Sweet Heavenly Father, rip out our stony hearts and gives us hearts of flesh.  Do for us what we cannot do.  We cannot see ourselves as you see us.  Help us to.  Help us to reach out to you for deliverance from our sins.  Only with you dwelling in us can we change and be ready for your coming.   We are so undone in so many ways.  Our speech is not right; our thoughts are not right; the way we treat others is not right; our conduct is not right; we do not have your love within us.  We are so selfish that we are not letting your love dwell within us to soften us and to change our hard hearts.  We do not seem to realize that your love dwelling in us will give us the ability to be like you.  Oh, heavenly Father help us to be open to your love so when people see us, they see Jesus in us.  Help us to be willing to be willing to surrender ourselves completely to you.  Do for us what we cannot do—save us from our selfish, unchristlike ways.  We do not want to be lost.  But, we are so helpless.  Give us the sincere desire to love you supremely and your word.  Help us to enjoy reading it, and give us the ability to understand it.  Do for us what we cannot do for ourselves—pull us away from this world and into your loving arms.  You promise that if we come boldly to the throne of grace, you will hear us and with your mercy, love and grace help us.  You promise, heavenly Father, that you will hear our cry.  “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”  Hebrews 4:16 “The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them.”  Psalms 145:18, 19  We know that you are knocking on the door of our hearts; help us to open the door to you and invite you into our hearts.  Change us before it is forever too late.  In the precious name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ-Amen.

This country is falling apart because of us.  Our forefathers did a great job in setting this country up for us.  But, now look where we are?  We moan and cry because our country is changing and not for the better.  Daily, we are losing our freedoms.  This is happening because we did not seek God. “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”  Jeremiah 29:13

Our only hope is Jesus Christ.   If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”  II Chronicles 7:14
