“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” Hebrews 13:8. If we took the time to read the Old Testament, we would find that Jesus was furious because the people back then would not keep His Commandments. He sent prophet after prophet to the people telling them to keep His Commandments, or He would bring hardships on them (drought, famine, enemies taking them over, plagues). But, the people were stiff-necked and rebellious, just like today. And, what is sad is most of the religious leaders are not helping the people to keep the Ten Commandments found in Exodus 20:3-17. The Ten Commandments of God are for us all. “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.” Ecclesiastes 12:13
We are so near the “Terrible Time of Trouble” that is found in Daniel 12:1. “And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.” Daniel 12:1
Friend, do not let the devil shake your faith in Jesus. You are precious in His sight and His promises are for you. It is true that the times we are living in get us so down at times. But we serve an awesome God. He is in total control of this world. He is alive and well and is keeping a close eye on all those that love Him. His angels are all around us.
“The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them.” Psalm 145:18, 19
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” Isaiah 41:10
We sometimes wonder why Jesus is taking so long in coming to get us. Could it be that he wants more to come to know Him? Do you think the reason we see the natural disasters increasing is because Jesus is trying to wake people up? Perhaps He wants people to realize that this world is going down quickly and there is no hope in things getting better. Our hope is in Jesus not in this corrupt, sin-sick world. Jesus loves us all and wants all to come to repentance. “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” II Peter 3:9
Hopefully, many will begin to think that Jesus is the only one that can help us. Hopefully, they will cry out to Him for help and surrender their lives to Him and confess and forsake their sins. Hopefully, they will start to read His word and learn how loving and beautiful He is. Jesus will not force anyone to be with Him forevermore. He is tenderly wooing each person to Him with cords of love. But, each has to make that choice of walking with Jesus, daily, or not.
Hang on to hand of Jesus, Friend, Times are getting worse that is for sure. But, He is our best friend and will stick close to us as we walk along the path each day that leads to the New Jerusalem. Strength comes from Jesus.
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength.” Isaiah 26:3, 4
“Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.
Thou shalt not kill.
Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Thou shalt not steal.
Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.”
